Stefanie Schwartz
Stefanie Schwartz’s wine journey began at Johnson & Wales University’s Charlotte, North Carolina campus. During her years here, the proverbial light bulb went on while learning the basics of wine production and tasting. From here, Stefanie tailored her education to have a beverage focus, graduating not only with a BS in Food Service Management, but also with the WSET Advanced Certificate.
In 2010, Stefanie made her way to New York City, initially working in wine retail and casual restaurants. Stefanie honed her service technique and elevated Italian wine knowledge at Alta Marea Group’s Ai Fiori. These skills led her to be a sommelier at Aureole, Le Coucou and Olmsted. Stefanie is currently the head sommelier at Portale Restaurant, in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.
In addition to pursuing her career in wine and MBA, Stefanie is an avid yoga practitioner which she uses to promote wellness in the wine community. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, especially the beach.
"Being a sommelier during COVID-19 is nerve-wracking. While on furlough, I worried about being able to continue the program. Upon receiving this scholarship, a wave of relief came over me. This is enabling me to continue the EMBA program without worrying how to pay for the next term."
