Victoria Chitko

Victoria Chitko started out in picking up server positions starting in high school and continuing through college and graduate school. She left the industry upon graduating with a Master ofArts degree in Nonprofit Organizations from the University of Georgia, and started a job at the Athens Council for Aging. On paper it seemed like a dream job, but in reality, she missed the liveliness, creativity, and sociability of a restaurant.

About two years into the position, Victoria was offered a job as General Manager of Seabear Oyster Bar, where she had previously worked while studying for a masters. She took the position in January of 2020 and is currently still working as the General Manager.

Fast forward to September of 2022, and Victoria is the co-founder of Lunch Spot, a pop-up series in Athens, Georgia. Her aspiration is to open a brick-and-mortar that by day serves deli favorites--sandwiches, soups, and salads—but by night, turns into a happy hour spot with snacks, craft cocktails, and a wine program. Since the first pop up in August 2021, Lunch Spot has successfully sold out of all events.

I am so very honored. Looking back on the previous scholarship winners, I am blessed to be included in a group of diverse,talented women.This scholarship will allow me to build upon the knowledge I have and take my career further in the food and beverage industry. This will improve my professional opportunities, solidify, and grow the knowledge I have. I am determined to move forward and push my career forward. The certification would only enhance my ability to bring in better products and educate our staff to share with the Athens community.
