Sue White
In 1994, Sue and her husband, Greg, shared a singular vision of starting a winery in the burgeoning wine region of Marlborough, New Zealand. They left their corporate jobs and sailed around the Pacific for three years before settling in Marlborough. With their young daughter in tow, the Whites leased a small winery on the outskirts of Blenheim and established Whitehaven.
After the passing of her husband in 2007, Sue took over the role of leading all aspects of the family business. Her determination to produce exceptional wine and continue building the Whitehaven name never wavered. Working with key partners in export markets around the world, Sue built a proud heritage for Whitehaven while achieving global notoriety for Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough region.
Sue adopts a democratic approach to management allowing each team member to contribute fresh ideas and to flourish in their roles. Sue’s commitment to Whitehaven has carried the company to where it is today, a close-knit team that produces exceptional wines and a proud legacy for the White family.
